As a founding member of design, development and management companies, BJ h as honed her Placemaking skills across multiple sectors, forming The Placemaker Group, L LC in 2017.

Still active in EO, she was a founding member (1999) of the Knoxville, TN EO chapter, an international group of entrepreneurs connected to her by similar DNA. Spending a decade with Leading by Design (LBD), a think tank led by Wayne Ruga, founder of the Center for Health Design, exposed her to a network international health leadership across several continents. As an adjunct lecturer for U of TN she produced a course and lecture series, “Designing Environments for Health” organizing Subject Matter Experts and broadcasting from Nashville to a multidisciplinary audience of design, healthcare, and public policy groups. The range of design work from K-12 to medical office projects honed her design skill, while leading her professional organization of 25,000 members (ASID) as national chair honed her leadership skills. Working in the public/private sectors in downtown development followed by two decades of work in the senior living space further polished her Placemaking skills.

Her current role in building intergenerational communities anchored with charter schools, senior living, and everything in-between is a culmination of the 3+ decades of devotion and passion to creating places where people thrive.
